Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, met with Chitose Noguchi, the UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt, to discuss joint cooperation in energy, digital transformation, and the development of data systems to support sustainable development pathways.
 
The meeting also reviewed the Egyptian government’s efforts through the “Central Crisis Management Committee” to respond to current economic and geopolitical challenges.
 
Discussions focused on maintaining the flexibility of development plans and growth targets amid global uncertainty. 
 
Strategies include short- and medium-term measures to enhance the role of the private sector, strengthen fiscal discipline, and accelerate comprehensive economic development.
 
Rostom emphasized that the government is addressing the current situation with clarity and decisiveness, continuing to adapt to geopolitical fluctuations to preserve economic momentum. 
 
He highlighted proactive measures to improve conditions, leveraging reforms implemented in recent years.
 
The minister also stressed the government’s focus on creating greater space for the private sector, particularly in infrastructure financing and entrepreneurship. 
 
He underlined the critical importance of developing and improving data systems, which serve as the foundation for effective planning, alongside enhancing governance frameworks and building institutional capacity to ensure efficient implementation and achievement of development objectives.
