Egypt & Boeing discuss expanding partnership to position Cairo as regional aviation hub

Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, met with officials from the U.S. aerospace giant Boeing to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and partnership in the aviation and air transport sectors.

The meeting took place at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, D.C., on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, according to a statement issued by the ministry on Monday.

During the discussions, Minister El-Khatib emphasized that the Egyptian government is working to integrate the aviation sector with tourism, trade, and logistics, as part of a strategic plan to position Egypt as a regional hub for aviation and transcontinental services.

He noted that Egypt places special priority on attracting leading global companies specializing in technology, digital transformation, and advanced infrastructure.

El-Khatib stressed that cooperation between Egypt and Boeing represents a successful model of international partnerships built on technology and knowledge, reaffirming the government’s commitment to build on this collaboration to expand investment opportunities and enhance the competitiveness of the national economy.

For their part, Boeing officials affirmed that the coming period will witness a deepening of the partnership with the Egyptian government to further develop the air transport and commercial cargo systems.
